Wayne Goss Brush 1 Alternative!!!

Let me begin this post by telling you all that I love Wayne Goss. For those who do not know who he is, you should check him out on YouTube, because he revolutionises the way we can do our makeup. He is super talented and incredibly lovely.
He's been on YouTube since 2009 and has over 100million views to his name, and like most successful beauty guru's out there, he has turned his talents to creating his own line of brushes etc. Perfect example of this is Sam Chapman from Pixiewoo and her line of Real Techniques tools.
But the major difference between these two gurus is the direction the both have taken with their brand.
Where Sam Chapman went for more affordable brushes which probably had a lower manufacturing cost, Wayne Goss went to the higher end scale of both pricing and manufacturing.

His brush set, pictured below, is priced at $210 which is roughly €182.

If you were to break down each of the 8 brushes and sell them equally they would be $26.25 or €19 thereabouts.
The problem is, in a perfect world they aren't all priced equally!

I really wanted to try out these brushes. Brush one in particular caught my eye because of its uniqueness, but I don't have $210 to shell out just for one brush.

When he released them individually, the brush was priced as $45 or €33 and I was still a bit dubious about buying it for that price too.
The beauty community was going crazy about how amazing this brush was and I was weighing up whether I would buy this or not until I came across a dupe for it!

The Ecotools Skin Perfecting brush is €8.99 from Boots so it's a lot more affordable.
As you can see from the picture it is similar. It is a bit taller, which means that it is less densely packed then the Wayne Goss brush, but this makes it easier to apply lighter coverage of foundation if desired. It is perfectly shaped in an angle helping you get into all the areas on your face and you could also use it as a contour brush for dramatic contouring.

Obviously the quality probably isn't comparable, but with the Ecotools brush, you can go in and buy it straight away, spending less than €10. It is more favourable on your pocket too!

In the future, I probably will buy some of Wayne Goss' brushes, but until then, I will be more than happy with The Ecotools Skin Perfecting brush, and I know I will be purchasing a few more for my kit.

Lots of love,

How I tone my hair.

Some people often ask me how I keep my hair blonde, and when I tell them, I usually get a few raised eyebrows.
The way I tone my hair is by making a mask with purple hair dye!

Ok, Let's back it up a bit and start from the beginning. If most of you know me, or seen any pictures of me, you'll know that I change my hair a lot. In order for me to keep my hair in the best condition possible, my hairdresser doesn't process it too much. When this happens, it usually isn't the whitest blonde, but I'd rather it be the healthiest it can be so I do sacrifice the colour for quality.

So bearing that in mind, I embrace the lemon toned hair because I know that I can safely make it a cleaner blonde.

Let me explain the science!

As the image above shows, purple and yellow are opposite to each other on the colour wheel. So if you have a lemon colour tone in your hair you'd tend to use a purple shampoo to tone it. This neutralises the colour by counterbalancing the colour, similar to using a green concealer to cancel red tones on your face :)

There are various of purple toning shampoo's out there on the market but I feel sometimes they are not as effective as I'd like them to be, so I make my own mask.

(Note: I am not a hair professional, but this works for me. I'd advise you to contact your hairdresser before you do this if you have any concerns with your colour)

The products I use are Manic Panic's Ultraviolet, Virgin Snow ( I prefer the amplified version) and TreSemmé mask for hair prone to breakage and damage.

You could sub out these product for cheaper alternatives but I like these products.

I mix 3 parts conditioner two 1-2 parts of each dye.

I place this all over my hair like this!

It looks super scary but I promise it works.

I left it in longer than I usually do because I have a broken wrist and it took me longer to put it in my hair, but I usually leave it on for 20-30 mins.

Et voila!

I know it looks a bit purple, but that's only because I left it longer than usual but you can see it's a crisper blonde :)

Love ya loads,

Lady Gaga Golden Globes Inspired Makeup

Lady Gaga looked absolutely radiant at last weekend at the Golden Globes. Her makeup was simple and fresh, so I immediately wanted to recreate something similar.

1. Start out with a fresh and clean face.

2. Put on your favourite illuminating base. I used Hocus Focus from Soap and Glory but you could use anything you particularly prefer. Another great base is Strobe Cream by Mac.

3 & 4. I primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion, filled in my brows with Rimmel Brow Pencil in Hazel and shaded my crease with this skin coloured shadow by Inglot.

5 & 6.  I then darkened up my crease with this dark chocolate coloured shadow by Inglot.

7 & 8. I used Inglots AMC Gel Liner in 77 and lined my upper lid.

9 & 10. After I completed my eyes I started the fun part! I used Revlon's Colorstay in Toast on my contours and I used Buff to blend the darker colour into my skin making sure to leave out the areas under my eyes, on my nose and above my brows.

11 & 12. I added my concealer to the untouched areas and blended them into the rest of the face to give an all over sculpted look.

13. You can powder the whole face down if you wish, but I wanted to keep my skin as dewy as possible so I just went ahead and added my bronzer to my  contours to just add more depth.

14, 15 & 16
I went ahead and used my FAVOURITE highlighter ever! It's Inglots Sparkilng Dust which can be used on eyes, face and body! I added this to the tops of my cheeks, my nose and the apples of my cheeks too :) The brush I use with this always is the 4SS brush from Inglot that is meant for eyes, but I show that you can use it anywhere!

17. I used Subculture lip liner by Mac to line my lips.

18. I couldn't find the exact nude colour I wanted so I created my own by adding a berry colour lip liner to my lips and Creme D'Nude lipstick by Mac.

And this was the final product :)

Hope you liked it :)

Beauty Fads: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!

As most of you beauty junkies out there are aware, there comes a time when a beauty fad comes out and we just HAVE to possess the 'next best thing', and I am willing to fully admit it,  I have fallen into that category more than a few times. I know we all do it and we always have mixed reactions because sometimes they never really live up to our expectations and our purchases usually are left unused, sitting sadly in a box somewhere. That still doesn't deter us from rushing out to buy the next new thing because we all love to live in lust for perfect skin, colourful hair and even metallic lips!

On my quest to finding perfect skin, I came across one of the latest beauty fads. Cleansing Brushes.
I had heard great things about the Clarisonic Mia brushes and I was definitely eager to try it out. But, alas, there was a tiny setback. The price. It was going to set me back a hefty 225 Euro! Unfortunately, that was not going to happen so I set out to find a purse friendly alternative. Cue the Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tool for a more reasonable price tag of 35 Euro.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when I opened up the box and seen the pink box looking straight up at me. I immediately took it out and went straight up to the bathroom sink and tried it out. I read so many reviews online prior to purchasing and I memorised the instructions practically verbatim, but I couldn't prepare for what was about to happen.

I used the tool on the Low Setting with the Softest brush only three times. Three times only? Yes. My face was in so much pain, and all around jawline and chin area, I broke out into what looked and felt like acne! I have been very blessed that I never had acne or bad skin growing up so I was really unaware of how to treat this outbreak.

I couldn't wear makeup because it stung my skin, but the appearance was so bad that I was left feeling so self conscious about my face.

It genuinely took me 4-6 weeks for it to completely clear up.

I really would not recommend this product or anything in the similar range/price point. While the Clarisonic is far more expensive, they do differ to their cheaper counterparts.

The Clarisonic  uses a gentle sonic massage in order to help cleanse your skin. You can move this around your face in circular motions and it automatically switches off after 1 minute ensuring you do not overwork it on your skin.

The Sigma one is a battery operated rotating brush that is harsh. It scrubs your face leaving it feeling raw and you don't really know how long you are using it for because there is no automatic switch or timer. It also suggests you clean your face before you use it so, to me it renders the product useless. Isn't the whole point of the brush is to clean your face?

Basically, in a nutshell,  I can't afford the more expensive and more equipped product but because of my absolute lust to try the 'next new thing', I ended up buying something that did more damage than it helped. I was better off without it, but you know me girls, I like a new fad as much as the next girl so I will probably do it all again. :)

Have you tried anything you have regretted? Or have you found your new beauty staple? Let me know! I am dying to add a few more items to my Lust List ;)
